Committee Descriptions

 

Thank you for your willingness to volunteer on any of the WHSAA, Inc. Standing committees.  All committees will hold monthly meetings.  Please review the responsibilities for each committee and send your contact information (Name, Class, Membership #, Email address, and telephone number) to the email address designated for the committee you wish to volunteer on.  Also, cc  info@whsaainc.org.   Please anticipate receiving an email response within 72 hours.  

 

The Membership Committee is responsible for all operations concerning the membership of the Association, to include: maintaining the current WHSAA, Inc. database; managing the publication of the Alumnae Directory every five years; conducting membership drives; supervising the operation of the WHSAA, Inc. primary Headquarters office; supervising the Office Manager and assuming the overall coordination of the primary Headquarters office volunteer staff.  The sub-committees are:  Nomination Committee and the Reunion Liaison.

The Finance Committee is responsible for all Association operations concerning the solicitation and expenditure of funds, to include: devising the Association’s annual operational budget; reviewing requests for expenditures of Association general funds; and preparing grant proposals for funding from public and private sources.  The sub-committees are: Audit Committee, Grants Committee, and the Ways and Means Committee.

The Rules Committee is responsible for all Association operational documents, to include: completing revisions to either the Association’s charter, by-laws, standard operating procedures and any other pertinent documents; filing regulatory reports, notices and declarations as required by law; serving as the liaison between the Executive Board and legal counsel obtained by the Association; and providing Association documentation to the general membership.

The Scholarship Committee is responsible for administering educational aid programs, such as the Western High School Alumnae Association, Inc. Scholarship Fund and one-time educational grants to eligible Western High School students.

The Publicity Committee is responsible for broadcasting and distributing all official communications of the Association in a multi-media environment, to include publishing the Association Newsletter, preparing and releasing public service announcements, and serving as the officials “voice” of the Association in public affairs matters.  The sub-committee of the Publicity Committee is the Newsletter Committee.

The Programming Committee is responsible for coordinating and conducting all Association events.  The sub-committees are:  Elections Committee and Fund Raising Committee.

The Student Enrichment Committee is responsible for advancing the developmental, academic, professional, and/or social well-being of current Western High School students.  This function includes any program or activity that builds character and integrity within the students, promotes the traditions of scholarship and sisterhood, and strengthens alumnae-student relationships.  The Mentoring program falls within the scope of this committee, and any future programs to be instituted shall also be a part of this committee’s primary responsibility.
