The Western High School Alumnae Association was reactivated and incorporated as a
501c3 non-profit membership organization in 1986. It was formed to support the preservation
of Western High School, the oldest all girls public high school in the United States.
WHSAA was organized in 1899 with Henrietta Szold as the first president. The first
meeting was held January 18, 1900 and the first annual meeting was held May 7, 1900.
The first Association actively reigned for 45 years, however Western did not have an
active alumnae association from 1945-1986.

All Western High School graduates are eligible for membership in the Association.
Graduating seniors are inducted in the Association during Commencement Exercise
in June. Upon graduation, seniors have one (1) free year of membership.

Dues are $20.00 each year.
Dues help to defray the costs of scholarships, printing, postage, supplies,
equipment, software, maintenance and other related costs of running the
Association.

The Association holds two annual meetings each year. One in the Fall and
the Spring. The meetings are usually held at Western High School on Falls Road and
Coldspring Lane, unless other arrangements are determined by the Executive Board.

FAQ5:
No, the Association does not plan class reunions. The Association will provide
classes with a guide on how to plan a successful class reunion, a listing of
class members in the database (based on availability), and use of the bulk mail
permit. Classes may also use our tax-exempt number when purchasing items for the
reunion. When using the tax-exempt number, classes must donate at least $100
towards the Associations Scholarship fund.
