Charmayne TurnerFor nearly 15 years, Charmayne D. Turner has served as a tireless advocate for youth development and family empowerment. As a former educator and longstanding nonprofit executive, she operates with the core philosophy that “what we deposit into our families today will be our only withdrawal tomorrow.”

In her most current capacity, Charmayne serves as the Senior Director of Operations and Programs at the Center for Urban Families (CFUF), a Baltimore-based nonprofit devoted to strengthening families and communities through work in the following areas: workforce development, family services, policy advocacy and training and technical assistance. In this role, she is tasked with planning, organizing, and controlling all day-to-day administrative, operational and programmatic activities. Also in collaboration with the CEO, senior staff and Board of Directors she informs the development of the organization’s financial and operational framework and provides the strategic vision and operational leadership necessary to ensure the continued growth and sustainability of the organization. She is responsible for all activities pertaining to licensure, facility management, programming, human resources, finance, and contract compliance.

Prior to joining CFUF, Charmayne served as the Coordinator for the Community Schools Initiative for Baltimore City Public Schools and was the Executive Director of Southeast Youth Academy, a youth development organization serving middle and high school teens.

Charmayne is a Baltimore native, educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She holds a MBA and Leadership Development certificate from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Morgan State University. She has served on several advisory and governance boards and steering committees. She currently serves as a community advisory board member for the Johns Hopkins Center for Adolescent Health Promotion and the Center for Disease Controls National Community Committee.

In her spare time she enjoys reading, photography and spending time with her husband Andre and daughter Kayla.
