WHSAA, Inc. Mentoring Program

“Let us give forth light”

The Western High School Alumnae Association, Inc., in an collaborative effort with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland, created a mentoring program at Western High School. The program was created to allow Western High School alumnae the opportunity to mentor current Western High School students. Throughout the program’s existence some very special and long-lasting, BIG/LITTLE relationships have been formed.

Numerous BIGS, both past and present, have committed themselves to having at least two contacts a month with their LITTLES. Oftentimes, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland sponsor eventswhich we are invited to participate, including their Annual Holiday Party, Annual Summer Picnic, Family Day at Six Flags, and they provide tickets to other special events and attractions also.

The Mentoring Program is always recruiting!

Are you looking for a way to give back to our “Dear Western” and at the same time become a role model to a young lady? Or maybe you know a current Western High School student that is interested in having a mentor. If so, click here to view and print the application.

The process of matching a BIG and LITTLE, which is primarily handled by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Maryland, can be a lengthy process because the goal is to make the best possible match. The typical timeframe that a match can be achieved, if all parties are consistent with submitting paperwork, scheduling interviews, and having BIGS/LITTLES available, is as short as 60 days.

Thank you for considering to become a part of the Western High School Alumnae Mentoring Program.

We can’t wait to have you join us! see photos
